Technical information about Pamano Canyon
To get to know Pamano Canyon a little better, here is some of the technical information you need to plan your adventure:
- Location: Llessui (Pallars Sobirà)
- Difficulty: Advanced
- Approach: 10 minutes
- Canyon duration: 3-4 hours
- Return: 5 minutes
- Canyon length: 1,500 metres
- Elevation loss: 190 metres
Pamano Canyon is, without exaggeration, one of the most impressive canyoning descents in Pallars Sobirà. Located above the small village of Llessui, in the Vall d’Àssua, it begins at the foot of Montsent de Pallars and descends through narrow rocky sections before becoming a succession of waterfalls that leave a lasting impression on everyone who discovers it.
The descent includes around 8 rappels, some of them genuinely long —the most spectacular reaching 30 metres— combined with downclimbing sections and natural rock slides. The anchors are in very good condition and, although the route is not technically extremely difficult, it requires good physical fitness and some previous canyoning experience, as the activity is long and the water flow can be significant.
The surroundings are spectacular: dense vegetation, narrow rock walls and a constant flow of water that makes every rappel an experience in itself. This is not a beginner canyon — it’s one you’ll remember.

Is Pamano Canyon suitable for beginners?
Pamano Canyon is classified as an advanced-level canyon, mainly because of its 30-metre rappel.
However, it is not considered highly technical, which means that adventurous people who are comfortable with heights often choose Infern Canyon as their very first canyoning experience.
What equipment do I need for canyoning?
For your canyoning adventure, we recommend bringing:
- Hiking shoes or sturdy sports shoes with good grip
- Thermal base layer (recommended in cooler weather)
- Sunscreen
- Swimsuit
- Gloves (optional)
- A change of clothes
- Glasses retainer strap (if needed)
- Water
We’ll provide all the technical equipment, including your wetsuit, helmet and harness.
Can children take part?
We recommend Pamano Canyon for participants aged 11 and over.
At this age, children are generally able to handle the rope techniques independently and are better prepared for the cool water temperatures inside the canyon.
Do I need previous canyoning experience?
Previous experience is not essential, but we do recommend completing a beginner-level canyon first so you’ll already be familiar with the basics of canyoning.
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
Your safety always comes first.
If weather or water conditions are not suitable, we’ll offer an alternative activity or reschedule your booking for another date.
Is canyoning with ADN Pirineus safe?
