In the southern part of the Pallars Jussà region, one of the best via ferratas for beginners was equipped just a few years ago.
Surrounded by the massive walls of the Terradets Gorge, the Arcades Wall is an activity that combines the waters of the reservoir, the surrounding cliffs, and, of course, a panoramic view of the vast landscapes of the entire Pallars area.
And why is it called the Paret de les Arcades ? It’s named after the rock arches found all along the face of the via ferrata. These add a touch of fun and curiosity to this incredible route.

Technical description of the Paret de les Arcades via ferrata
To get to know the Arcades Wall a little better, we need the right information to plan our activity. For this reason, here you can find a brief technical description of the via ferrata:
- Location: Cellers - Llimiana (Pallars Jussà)
- Difficulty: K3
- Approach: 2 minuts
- Duration ferrata: 1 hour
- Return: 15 minuts
- Equipped distance: 240 meters
- Elevation gain: 68 meters
Inaugurated in 2024, this via ferrata traverses a limestone wall characterized by rock arches that give the route its name. The Paret de les Arcades ferrata, rated as level K3, is ideal for beginners and for spending an enjoyable time above the reservoir waters.
The route starts with a very engaging horizontal section, combining iron rungs, natural rock, and two bridges until reaching one of the highlights of the journey: the pendulum.
Before reaching it, there is an optional section featuring a 7–8 meter overhang (this section is rated level K5) for those looking to add a bit more intensity to the experience.
The pendulum is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting moments: we clip into a chain and let go to swing from one point of the wall to another with our feet dangling in the air. From there, only one final vertical stretch remains to reach the end of the route.
It is an ideal via ferrata for getting started in the Pallars region, perfect for visiting with family or friends and enjoying an accessible activity in a spectacular Pyrenean setting.
Starting point
Paret de les Arcades is located at the Terradets Reservoir, in the municipality of Llimiana, specifically in the village of Cellers. The starting point of the via ferrata is located right at the Paret de les Arcades parking lot. We will meet there, gear up, and start walking (2 min) along the road heading south until we reach the start of the ferrata.
How to get there?
By car: this is the most convenient option. You can drive to the designated parking lot at the foot of the cliff, right next to the Terradets reservoir.
By train: take the RL2 line (Lleida – La Pobla de Segur) and get off at the Cellers-Llimiana stop. From there, the meeting point is just a few minutes’ walk away.
By bicycle: if you are coming from Tremp or La Pobla de Segur, you can cycle via the “Ruta dels Llacs” greenway, a very pleasant access route with great views.
A location that is easy to reach with a minimal approach, ideal for making the most of your time on the wall.

The Paret de les Arcades via ferrata is located in the privileged setting of the Terradets Reservoir, at the gateway to the Terradets Gorge—one of the Great landmarks of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees. Here, the rock walls rise more than 500 meters high, creating a spectacular vertical landscape that follows the course of the Noguera Pallaresa river.
Climbing in this corner of Pallars Jussà is more than just an activity: it’s about moving between massive cliffs, right by the water’s edge, with open views of the Pyrenean peaks.
